Peterson Machinery Co. History

When the chance arose to purchase the Caterpillar dealership in southern and central Oregon in July of 2003, Peterson put the wheels in motion to acquire a territory covering 48,000 square miles with a population of 1.25 million people. This contiguous 650-mile stretch of opportunity runs from Santa Cruz County in California to Linn County, Oregon, and brings Peterson's territory to roughly 85,000 square miles of coverage, handled from 19 store locations. To serve that new customer base, Peterson would need to grow and diversify in new directions. Oregon is home to a large agriculture and forestry industry, so it's no surprise that Peterson Machinery has cultivated a strong agriculture and forest machine sales force. Bringing on lines like Challenger, Massey Ferguson, Hesston, and Lexion have helped the dealership to become the one-stop solution for the region's equipment needs.

In addition, Peterson Machinery has brought three CAT Rental Stores into the Peterson fold with locations in Medford, Redmond, and Springfield. More than 20 brand-name manufacturers like Genie, Sullair, Multiquip, and Toro, in addition to Caterpillar, can all be found on the shelves and on the lots of Peterson's rental facilities. This expansion of territory, machine offerings, and rental services will help the growing dealership play a big role in Peterson operations now and in the future. Currently, Peterson Machinery's territory covers the following 15 counties:

Benton Coos Crook Curry Deschutes
Douglas Jackson Jefferson Josephine Klamath
Lake Lane Linn Modoc, CA Siskiyou, CA
